Lee Baker

Lee Baker

Lee was raised in a soccer family and brings a lifelong love of soccer and an intense commitment to the future generation of Texas Youth Soccer to the Texans FC. He played youth soccer in the area and began his select club career in 1988 with the Texans where he played, and was team captain until 1998. During this period the team won the U16 National Championship, 2 Regional Championships and numerous STYSA championships.

 Lee had a distinguished high school career where he played at Klein High School for his father. While at Klein Lee was recognized with numerous individual honors. These include: Houston Chronicle Player of the Year, Texas Gatorade Player of the Year, Parade and NSCAA All American. Lee still holds the record as Klein High School’s all time leading scorer.

Lee played soccer for the University of Kentucky Wildcats where he and his teammates qualified for the NCAA Tournament, and were also MAC Champions. Lee also received individual recognition as a 3 time All Conference player, and a 2 time Regional All American. Lee was the Assistant Soccer Coach at the University of Kentucky for 1 year before returning to Texas.

Lee began his select club coaching career in 1999 with the Woodford County Soccer Club. In 2001 Lee returned to Texas where he joined the training staff of the Texans Soccer Club. During his tenure with the Texans, Lee’s teams have earned numerous championships. These include:

  • 3rd place finish in the 2004, U16 National Championship
    • Regional semi-finalist U17
  • 9 STYSA State Championships
  • 3 Premier League Finalists
  • 1 Regional Championship
  • Numerous tournament championships

Lee was the Assistant Director of Training for the Texans Soccer Club.

Lee has been an Olympic Development (ODP) coach since 2002. He has directed numerous soccer camps that include: Klein All Star Soccer Camp, Concordia Lutheran Soccer Camp, John Cooper Soccer Camp, and the Stillwater Soccer Camp.

It has always been a vision of Lee’s to properly develop the “complete player”. He understands that a commitment to excellence in every area of coaching is the only way that total player development can be achieved.

Lee and his wife Cindy recently became parents of a baby girl, Claire.

Carl Fleming

Carl Fleming

Carl Fleming, Assistant Director of Soccer, comes to Houston with a wealth of experience in US soccer. He has been involved in US soccer since graduating from the University or North Carolina-Greensboro in 1991.

From 1993 - 1995 Fleming worked as a buyer for Eurosport, the largest mail order soccer catalog company in the United States. From 1995 - 2000 Carl spent five years with Adidas America serving as the National Promotions Manager and MLS Player Coordinator, where he worked directly with MLS and Adidas sponsored teams, clubs, colleges, coaches and players.

He has worked previously as an assistant coach at the college level for Greensboro College, Duke University and UNC-Greensboro. In addition, Fleming coached the Carolina Dynamo PDL team to the National Semi Finals in 2004. He has also served as a staff coach for North Carolina ODP and Region III. Fleming has served as the Director of Coaching for the Boy’s Select Program with Greensboro Youth Soccer for three years, prior to accepting his position with Texans FC.

As a player Fleming won three successive Division III National Championships while at the UNC-Greensboro (1985-1987). He captained the team in 1987 and 1988. In 1988, during his senior season, Fleming was named as a Division II All-American. In addition, he has been inducted into the UNC-Greensboro Wall of Fame for his accomplishments while at the University. Fleming went on to play for the Carolina Dynamo and Raleigh Flyers of the A-League and was a member of the Carolina Dynamo team that won the A-League National Championship.

Carl and his wife Dana have a son, Declan, who is 6 and a daughter, Emerson, who is 4.

Danny Baker

Danny Baker

Danny Baker, Director of Soccer Advancement, was also raised in a soccer family and brings a lifelong love of soccer and a commitment to the future generation of Texas Youth Soccer to the Texans FC. He played youth soccer in the area and began his select club career in 1987 with the Texans. During the 7 years Danny was with the club they earned the STYSA State Championship in 1991 and 1992 and earned a second place Regional finish in 1992.

Danny had a distinguished high school career where he played at Klein High School for his father. Danny and his teammates were semi-finalists in the State tournament in 1993, and 1994 and he was recognized with numerous individual honors. These include: Houston Player of the Year, All State 1 st team, All Region 1 st team and All State 1 st team. He was also named the district MVP in 1994.

Danny began his select club coaching career in 1998 with the Woodford County Soccer club of Kentucky. While there his ’83 team earned a birth in the state tournament semi-final round. In addition, he also was a Youth Coach Academy Instructor for the club. In 2003, Danny co-founded the Commonwealth (Kentucky) Soccer Club. His ’92 team earned the KYSA League Championship in 2003. Danny joined the Texans soccer club in 2005 and was a trainer for the TSC Texans.

Danny began his High School coaching career in 1997 at Lexington ( Kentucky) Christian Academy where he earned coach of the year honors in 2001 and 2002. In 2002 his team earned a top 10 state ranking. Danny assumed his current responsibilities as Head Coach Women’s varsity soccer at Cypress Falls HS in 2005. His team earned the Area Championship in 2005 and 2006, and the District 17 5A Championship in 2006. Also in 2006 Danny was named the District 17 Coach of the Year.  In the fall of 2006, Danny was hired as a full time coach for the Texans FC after serving as a part-time trainer for 2 years.

He has directed numerous soccer camps that include; Klein All Star Soccer Camp, Concordia Lutheran Soccer Camp, John Cooper Soccer Camp, and the Stillwater Soccer Camp.

Danny and his wife, Kristin, are the parents of a girl, Margaret.

Randy Noll

Randy Noll

Randy brings his varied soccer talents and experiences at all levels and abilities to the Texans FC. Randy grew up playing recreational and club soccer in the Houston area. He was recognized with All State and All Conference honors during his 3 year tenure as the varsity goalkeeper for Kinkaid High School. During his junior year, Randy and his teammates earned the Private School Texas/Oklahoma joint State Championship. Randy played college soccer for the Southern Methodist team in Dallas. During this period Randy and his teammates earned a Final Four and a Sweet Sixteen birth in the NCAA tournament.

Randy began coaching at an early age. From the ages of 14-21, Randy worked with various youth league teams in the Houston area and serves as a staff member and goalkeeper instructor at the Texas All Star and All American Soccer camps. From 1982 – 2000 Randy owned and directed the Texas Soccer Academy, Soccer Camp and Coaching School, the oldest continuously running soccer camp in the Southwest.

Randy began his High School coaching career in 1985 as the Varsity Soccer Coach at Klein Forest High School. Randy’s other high school experience includes his Alma mater, Kinkaid HS, and St. Michaels Academy in Austin, Texas. Randy is currently Assistant Head of the Upper School and varsity soccer coach at the John Cooper School in the Woodlands. Randy led his team to a final four appearance in the Southwest Preparatory Conference (Texas/Oklahoma) in 2005.

Randy holds a USSF National “C” License and has served as a member of both the South Texas Olympic Development Program (ODP) and the Gatorade High School All-American committee.

Robert Shane

Robert Shane

Robert began playing soccer in the area and played select club soccer for The Texans, The Classics and the Austin Flyers Soccer Club. He was a 4 year member of the varsity team at Klein High School where he played for Coach Allen Baker. Robert played college soccer for Midwestern State University.

Robert holds a USSF National “C” License. Robert’s training experience began in 1998 with the Express Soccer club where he trained the ’87 boy’s team. This team earned the Arlington Premier League Championship in the fall of 1998. Robert became the Assistant Soccer Coach at his Alma mater, Midwestern State University in 1999. His accomplishments there include a Lone Star Conference Championship.

Mike Metz

Mike Metz

 

Mike Metz grew up in the Houston area and played select soccer at the highest level for the Cy-Fair Dynamos. He was a 3 year member of the varsity soccer team at Tomball High School . Mike attended Texas A&M University where he received a Bachelor's of Science Degree. Shortly after, he completed his Masters of Education from Sam Houston State University.

Mike has been the head coach of the Tomball High School boys soccer team since 2004. In 2007, his team finished 2nd place in district behind crosstown rival Klein and advanced to the second round of playoffs, neither of which has been done at Tomball in six years.

For the past three years, Mike has been a member of the Cy Fair Dynamos professional staff.

Mike and his wife Jenny have one daughter (Carly).

Ruben Ayala

Ruben has been working with young players in the Houston area for nearly ten years. He has a steady grasp of the soccer scene in South Texas. He has coached with the Bear Creek Soccer Club, Westside Soccer Club, and has been a part of the Houston Dynamo Player Development System. Ruben has a National 'C' Liscense as well as a NSCAA Goalkeeping Diploma. Ruben will be a tremendous asset to the Texans FC Professional Staff.

Chris Goos

Chris Goos

Chris is regarded as one of the top players to ever come out of South Texas. He was a member of the ’80-’81 Texans for eight years where he led his team to numerous state championships. Chris was also a regular on the South Texas Olympic Development team and was selected to the u17 National Team. “Goose” went on to lead Klein High School to two state championships in 1997 and 1999, and was named the Houston Chronicle Player of the Year.

He made the decision to attend the University of North Carolina- Greensboro where he had a fantastic collegiate career, capping things off by being named an All American his senior year after leading the nation in scoring. “Goose” went on to play professionally for three years for the Charleston Battery, and also had professional stints in Iceland and Brazil.

When not playing, Chris has spent the past five years coaching in soccer camps across the country, as well as doing private training.

Texans FC is thrilled to have Chris on board to work with our younger players and set an example of the possibilities that are out there for our older players who want to move on to the next level.

Ricky Lewis

Ricky Lewis

Ricky Lewis is a local product who has put together a very impressive playing career. Ricky graduated from Klein HS in 2000 and was a member of the 1999 State Championship team. Ricky went on to play for 2 seasons at Clemson University before he was called in to play for the United States U-20 National Team in the World Championships in Argentina as well as the U-23 National Team Olympic Qualifiers in Mexico. Ricky was a part of the Nike Project 40 and played in over 70 matches for the Los Angeles Galaxy and the Colorado Rapids.

Perhaps most impressive is Ricky's passion to share his knowledge and experiences with younger players. Texans FC is thrilled to welcome Ricky Lewis to the coaching staff.

Matt Smith

Matt grew up in Denver, Colorado where he started playing soccer at the age of six.  At the age of eleven, he started playing select soccer with the Columbine Troopers.  Over the next several years, the team won many tournaments and several state titles.  In 1995-1998 he was selected to the Colorado State select team.  In 1992 he played for York College in York Nebraska.  They won the NSCAA national title, and Matt was voted to the all tournament team.  Matt then moved on to play for Sam Houston State University where he was captain. 

He has been a trainer for the Katy Strikers for several years and has been involved with coaching youth soccer for the past six years. Matt will be a great addition as he will assist with the Texans FC Junior Academy and U11 age group. Matt lives in Spring with his wife Teri and their four children.

Allen Baker

Allen Baker

More than a builder of winning teams Allen Baker has helped develop soccer players of all ages to reach their full potential. Coach Baker brings his life long passion for soccer, and devotion to “the Next Generation” of soccer players to the newly formed Texans FC. Coach Baker began his high school coaching career at Ballard HS in Louisville, Kentucky where his teams won 3 Kentucky State Championships. Coach Baker is currently the Head Men’s Varsity Coach, Klein HS where for over 23 years Coach Baker has built and sustained arguably one of the most successful and dominant High School soccer programs in the country. Coach Baker’s teams have earned Texas State Championships in 1997, 1999 and 2005. In 2005 Coach Baker was honored with the NSCAA National Coach of the award. Other recognition of his excellence in coaching includes:

  • National High School Coach of the Year Finalist, 1977 and 1994.
  • Houston Post and Chronicle Coach of the Year
  • The first soccer coach to receive the UIL Outstanding Achievement Award
  • Senior All Star Game Coach
  • 1997 Houston Chronicle Coach of the Year
  • First Texas HS Soccer Head Coach to win 400 games, January 31, 1998
  • First Teas HS Soccer Head Coach to win 500 games, February 26, 2002
  • 1998 Region III Coach of the Year
  • 1998 Texas UIL Coach of the Year
  • 1998 Chronicle Coach of the Year
  • 1998 National Foundation of Interscholastic coaches Coach of the Year

Allen has coached thousands of young players as the Director of the Klein All Star Soccer Camps for over 20 years. With over 600 wins he has more wins than any other high school soccer coach in Texas, and is ranked in the top 5 all-time coaches in the country for high school soccer wins.

 Coach Baker and his wife, Joy are the parents of 2 boys, Danny and Lee. They are also the proud grandparents of two granddaughters.
